Shared Dorms
We have clean and comfortable air-conditioned shared dorm rooms of all sizes, ranging from smaller 4 bed dorms, to our enormous 16 bed shared dorms for those on a tighter budget. All of our shared dorms are spacious and clean with large lockable storage lockers for every guest! Next to every bed is a personal double power socket, plus you can access the free and lightning-fast unlimited WiFi from every room. Unlike many other hostels, our housekeeping team will also prepare the beds with fresh linen in preparation for your arrival.
Private rooms
If you wish for more privacy during your stay, we have air-conditioned private rooms available at Sydney Backpackers. Our private rooms consist of a large single over double bunk bed, which can cater for both couples or friends who wish to have more privacy during their stay.
Sydney Backpackers Reception
The Reception Desk is open from 8 am – 10 pm everyday. Our friendly and experienced reception team have a wealth of knowledge so make sure you put it to good use! Plus, keep an eye on the events board next to reception to see what events the hostel has organised for the week!
TV Area
Sydney Backpackers has a huge TV room located on the third floor. We have constructed an awesome two-tiered grandstand with plenty of comfy cushions for you to enjoy our huge 65 inch flat-screen smart TV. Each Sunday we have movie night with free popcorn which is always a popular way to unwind with your hostel friends after a busy weekend.
We also have a huge selection of books to use while at the hostel.
Kitchen and Dining Area
Sydney Backpackers has a modern open-plan kitchen and dining area on the third floor. This includes gas stove cook tops, microwaves, toasters and kettles. On Sundays we provide free pancakes between 9 am – 11 am. Next to the kitchen is a large dining room which also contains a communal dry food storage area as well as four large commercial fridges to keep your food cool and fresh throughout your stay!
The Rooftop
Sydney Backpackers has the biggest and best rooftop in town! Lose yourself in the sweeping city views from the 150 square meters of private luxury atop the building. It’s the ultimate location to bask in the glorious Sydney sunshine and meet new friends over a few beers after a day of sightseeing. Make sure you check out our cool graffiti mural and don’t miss our free weekly BBQ on the rooftop.

Bathrooms
We have an abundance of bathroom and shower facilities available at Sydney Backpackers on every floor. Unlike other hostels, we have a very low guest-to-bathroom ratio meaning you’ll never have to wait around to use a bathroom, even during peak times. Our hot water system ensures that hot water is always available around the clock and our cleaning team works hard to ensure the facilities are clean and ready for use at all times.
Laundry
The Guest Laundry is open 24/7 and is located on the second level. The commercial-grade machines cost $4 per wash, $4 per dry and we have washing powder available at Reception for 50c.
Security
Above all else, the security of our guests is our highest priority. CCTV is in operation throughout the building and we follow a strict ‘Guests Only’ policy within the hostel. We use a sophisticated RFID security card system on all doors.
